About Linley Skin Health
Linley Skin Health provides a comprehensive approach to skin care. The deterioration of our skin quality as we age is a source of great concern for many people. We see patients every day who are paying the price of severe solar damage, which accelerates facial ageing. Many of us now look older than we feel.
As a society we have become fitter, more aware of our internal health and more concerned with our external appearance. However, the skin of our adult generation has been subjected to unprecedented solar damage due to the fashion for sun tanning which was prevalent in Australia between 1960 and 1990 and continues to a lesser extent today. We have the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, due primarily to solar damage.
As we age, our face undergoes progressive change. Gravity causes sagging, weight change plus ageing cause volume changes in our facial tissues, and expressiveness causes wrinkling. The facial skin loses its youthful elasticity.
Also, solar damage causes blotching, thinning, discoloration, appearance of red veins, wrinkling, loss of skin elasticity, dryness, dry scaly patches (solar keratoses) and skin cancer formation.
Solar damage and ageing cannot be reversed but in most people, substantial improvement in skin quality can be obtained by using rational medical and surgical therapies to address the particular manifestations of ageing and solar damage, if they are a concern.
Linley Skin Health was established to provide up to date, science-based treatments for damaged skin. We specialise in medical, scientifically-based therapies to improve cosmetically wrinkled, sun-damaged and ageing skin, and to manage skin cancer.
We use careful medical evaluation, skin surface medical therapies, injectables (fillers and anti wrinkle), lasers and IPL, photodynamic therapy, peels and microdermabrasion, fat transfer, and Plastic Surgeon evaluation, where appropriate.
With careful interventional, preventive and maintenance care, most patients can significantly improve their skin in a cost effective manner.
